Frequently asked questions

Why was my reservation cancelled?

If you did not cancel your booking but you've received a notification that your booking has been cancelled that means the venue has cancelled the booking. Venues are required to provide the reason for cancellation which should show on the cancellation notification.

Can I book more than 1 venue for the same time?

Ambl does not allow block bookings which means you will need to cancel your current booking in order to book elsewhere if it's at the same time.

You can either cancel yourself via the 'My Bookings' section or if you try to book elsewhere when you already have a booking, a prompt will appear which you will need to confirm before proceeding.

What is the difference between 'table' and 'entry' on my booking confirmation?

If you have a confirmed booking with a venue that is a restaurant only, then you will be guaranteed a table upon arrival. If the venue you've booked with is a bar or a restaurant and bar, then you may be offered a 'table' or 'entry'. 'Entry' simply means that you will be granted entry into the venue but there is no guarantee of a table but you are welcome to have drinks at the bar. If the venue decides to offer you a table once you've arrived that is up to them but they are not obliged to with an 'entry' booking.

To ensure users are aware that their booking is based on 'entry', the app will prompt and ask users to confirm that they are happy with this condition. Only if a user click 'accept' will the request become a confirmed booking.

How long do I have to choose a venue when I send a broadcast request?

You have a maximum of 5 minutes to choose a venue from the list of responses when you send out a broadcast request. The venues are listed in distance order to make your life easier. After 5 minutes the request will expire and you will need to resend a request.

What the difference between broadcast and search availability?

When you click the 'Where next?' button you will notice 2 options at the bottom of the screen just before 'Let's Ambl!'.

Broadcast is where your request will be broadcasted to all the venues within a 1 or 2 mile radius (based on what you've selected) asking them to respond to your request by saying 'yes, we have the availability and we'd like to invite you in'. You will see a live list of venues (which may grow as this is real-time) of which you can choose 1 that you would like to visit. You have a maximum of 5 minutes to choose a venue and once you do, the booking is confirmed. Think of Broadcast as the Uber of dine-ins and bars!

Search availability is where you will see a list of venues on the Ambl map who have real-time availability based on your search criteria. From this map, you can select any venue and request a booking. These venues should have an automatic response feature enabled meaning that the booking confirmation should be instantanoues.
